Why Hasn’t Anyone Built *This* Version of Stocktwits Yet
Okay… here's a question I can't get out of my head:
Why has nobody built the Stocktwits equivalent that actually requires users to be ID-verified—with their real first and last name?
No handles. No fake avatars. No bots. Just real people.
You want to post? Cool. Upload your ID. Use your real name. That’s it.
Sure, the audience would be smaller. But it’d be way better.
A healthier environment where people are nicer.
Where you're not hiding behind some meme pretending to be a market genius.
Where people only share what they actually believe in—because their real name is on it.
It Fixes Everything That's Broken
This would eliminate 90% of the nonsense that ruins trading communities and social media:
- No bots
- No scammers
- No burner accounts
- No fake engagement
- No anonymous spam
- Nicer people
Just verified humans. Talking markets. Sharing ideas. Actually contributing.
It’s a Better Business Too
Advertisers would love this.
Imagine saying:
“We have 500,000 ID-verified users. Real names only. No fake accounts.”
Then you can actually show:
- % of users who posted
- % active in the last 30 days
- % on web vs mobile
- % following certain tickers
Clean data. Real audience. Easy to sell.
You're not inflating numbers with bots and fake clicks.
You’re building trust—and warm traffic.
A Community That Doesn’t Suck
Let’s be honest—most traders want a space to actually learn and connect.
Not one filled with spam, bait, and anonymous accounts shouting into the void.
Make it ID-verified and real name only?
The quality shoots up. The conversation gets better. People take it more seriously.
It would be smaller… but it would be 10x more useful.
So Again… Why Hasn’t Anyone Built This?
Maybe it’s harder to scale.
Maybe it’s not sexy enough for VCs.
Maybe people are too addicted to the fake engagement game.
But if someone built it?
They’d win.
