Subscribe and Save: How I Made My Habits Stick

This year, I got into pretty good shape. A big part of that was simply joining a CrossFit gym and setting one rule for myself: just show up. No hopping between new fads or getting distracted by the next “best” program. Just consistency.

But one of my other goals this year was “protein.” That meant hitting at least 180 grams per day. To do that, I needed a protein powder that was good, cheap, and something I’d actually stick with. I eventually found Cinnamon Cereal by MyProtein. I liked it. It worked. But I also knew my pattern.

I’d use it daily until I ran out. Then I’d hit that 2 to 3 week (sometimes 2 to 3 month) gap where I debated whether to buy more, where to get it, or if I should switch brands, and I’d just end up skipping it altogether.

This time, I did something different. I went back online, chose the same 5-pound bag, and clicked “Subscribe & Save.” Now, the same bag shows up at my door every month. I’ve never run out since, I'm getting the best price on it, and I’ve hit my protein goal almost every day. Protein problem solved.

Next up was creatine. I’ve taken it on and off for years and know the benefits. Pills work better for me than powder because they’re easy to take and require no mixing. I found Optimum Nutrition’s capsules on Amazon. Perfect and affordable. I subscribed to have them delivered every 3 months. Haven’t missed a dose since. Creatine problem solved.

Then came hair loss. In 2023 and 2024, I started noticing more hair in the shower, not ideal when you’re only 27 (especially if you can't pull off the bald look like me). I tried this Hims Hair Loss pill for a couple months, saw results, then canceled and stopped, and of course, the problem came back. In 2025, I resubscribed and stayed consistent. My hair is fuller than ever. Hair problem solved.

Finally, fiber. I was eating more fruits and veggies but wanted to supplement with psyllium husk because I knew how much better I felt (and, let’s be honest, how much better my digestion was) when I took it regularly. I found NOW psyllium husk capsules on Amazon, take two a day, and that’s that. Fiber problem solved.

This simple habit of subscribing and saving has made my daily routines effortless. I don’t have to think about ordering protein, creatine, preventive hair loss pills, or fiber. They just show up. And I know I’m getting the best prices while keeping my habits locked in.

Not medical advice. And, the Amazon links that I shared are affiliate links in which I’ll make a few bucks if you sign up, which might just cover my hosting fees for this blog.
