Modern Career Suicide

There’s one type of employee nobody likes. Not your coworkers. Not your boss. Nobody.

It’s the person who throws others under the bus in front of management.

And in today’s world of remote work, this behavior shows up more than ever. People put teammates on blast in group chats — often with upper management watching — instead of just sending a direct message. It’s lazy. It’s toxic. And it’s a fast track to being the person nobody wants to work with.

If someone makes a mistake (people make mistakes), be an adult. Ping them directly. Have the conversation one-on-one. Give feedback like a teammate — not like you’re trying to climb the ladder by stepping on someone else.

Because when you air someone out in front of others, you don’t look like a leader. You look like a liability. And your boss sees it too — just not in the way you think.

Did you play sports growing up? Great. You’re essentially the kid whining to the coach about someone else’s playing time. No one respects that.

Want a good career? Want a good life?

Don’t be that guy.
