I gave up on laundry
My girlfriend and I finally gave up on doing laundry.
Since she moved in on April 1st, 2 loads of laundry per week has become 4 loads of laundry per week.
We both go through about 2–3 "outfits" per day between work (she wears scrubs) and working out.
And because I work from home and she is a PA (physician assistant), one of two things would happen:
I would do the laundry alone during the week because I wanted to be a good BF and because I work from home and technically can do it in between work. It was time-consuming, a slight distraction, and I absolutely dreaded it.
We would do it on the weekend, usually on Sunday, and absolutely crush our morning.
Either way, we were looking at about 4 hours per week between the washing (multiple loads), drying, folding, and putting everything away.
But since we both started commuting during the week by bike and saving around $2 per mile each, or about $880 per month between the two of us, we figured we should use some of it to fix this stressor in our lives.
And so we did.
I signed up for Rinse, which is our local pickup, wash, fold, and delivery service, and we couldn't be happier.
Every Thursday (changing it to Wednesday), we throw all of our sh*t in a bag, someone comes and picks it up, and then delivers it folded to our door the next day.
It costs about $80 per week ($40 each), or $320 per month, and this stressor has been solved.
(Need to factor in Rinse Go which adds $15 per month for next day delivery and no charge)
With us saving about $880 per month by commuting by bike during the week, we were able to not only get all the benefits from that, but also eliminate this stressor from our lives without questioning the cost.
This has been a game changer.
