Don't Link Your Newsletter on Social Media

For creators, one of the easiest ways to kill your newsletter's email deliverability is to post the newsletter link on your socials.

Many people will click through from your social post and skip the email in their inbox.

That crushes your inbox deliverability, and it can kill your business.

Instead:

  1. A few days before the newsletter comes out, tease it and link to a landing page where people can sign up.
  2. On release day, you can tell people on socials that it just landed in their inbox, but don't link to it.

This applies even if your newsletter has a “locked gate.” Existing subscribers will hit the gate and add a new email, log in through it, or enter a throwaway email just to read it. Either way, they won’t read it in their inbox. And if they’ve already read it online, it takes away the excitement of seeing it land in their inbox.

If you're interested in keeping up with posts like this, you can subscribe to them via email.
